Offbeat Homes

Warp Your Offbeat Walls

by Jennifer Chait on December 12th, 2007

Offbeat has done warped homes and funky wallpaper — but never both together. I suppose there comes a time for everything.

Surrealien makes warped wall coverings that are so weird; it’s hard for me to imagine you’d honestly have them in a home but they might make a great addition to a club, bar, or wacky coffee cafe. The technology behind the wallpaper is interesting. Surrealien factors in all doors, windows, and wall hanging to get the correct warped look around items. The big problem here is that obviously once it’s done, it’s done. You can’t move your paintings or furniture (if furniture is included); not without it looking very odd.

Still, it’s an interesting idea and would fit the most offbeat of rooms well.

What would you use this for? You know, after thinking it over it would make pretty cool kid wallpaper.

Wow that’s cool. But it could make you feel a little sick if you’d had a few drinks, maybe not a good idea for a bar :)

Maybe people would drink less? It would be good for a fun house. Lots of commercial uses. Thanks for visiting :)

Theoretically it would be awesome. But as a migraine-sufferer, I’d hesitate to decorate my house with the stuff! :) Still, a powder room would be fun, wouldn’t it? (”No, Janie, there’s nothing wrong with the wallpaper… what do you mean it looks like it’s undulating?”

It would be fun to see people’s reactions. If they make a comment, you could tell them they must be having a problem with their eyesight:)

Angelique and Linette — you two are way fun! I think pretending is a smashing idea. What? That would be funny. Wait, is that sort of mean; to pretend we see the wallpaper as normal? Hmmm.

Angelique — did you get my tip at your blog about the lavender oil? (for your headaches). Hope something is helping :)

you took my idea about the funhouse =p. Could you imagine if you put some of those wacky mirrors in a room that was already confusing?
