The House of Mystery at the Oregon Vortex

by Ingrid on August 7th, 2006

I love a good mystery! And the House of Mystery at the Oregon Vortex provides just that. Originally, the House of Mystery (as it grew to be called) was nothing more than an office and a tool shed built in 1904 by the Old Grey Eagle Mining Company. A few years after the company stopped mining (1911), the house slid off its foundation and now rests at an angle. In 1930, the place became known as The House of Mystery at The Oregon Vortex.

These days, nobody lives or works there. Instead, it’s a tourist attraction that has been open to the public since 1930.

So what’s all the mystery about?

In the Oregon Vortex natural phenomena is commonplace. Perception is altered. The short become tall, the tall become short, and the evidence can even be captured on film.

Oooh and aaah.
