The Dobson House

by Ingrid on September 22nd, 2006

Perhaps you’ve already heard of the Dobson House, as it’s been praised by everyone from the Discovery Channel to Eco Structure Magazine. I thought I’d give it some praise as well, since it’s really that cool.

Resting 7,000ft on a 100ft hill overlooking the Rio Grande Gorge, The Dobson House isn’t your run of the mill bed and breakfast, of course. Located in Taos, New Mexico, this 6,000 square foot adobe is made entirely out of recycled materials. Materials in its construction included some 2,000 car tires and 20,000 aluminum cans. Electricity? Solar, of course. The Dobson House has been rated as one of the world’s ten best alternative energy tourism sites by the Discovery Channel. Can’t go wrong with that.

If you want to visit The Dobson House, feel free to visit the main site, where you can make your reservations. Rates aren’t too expensive: $98/night. For you eco-friendly people out there, this is a must-stop b&b.
