How do you find a plumber? What about a painter? Would you start with the internet? Everyone has a web page now a days, but plumbers and painters maybe a little slow to adopt. Why should they, in their business they get more referrals word of mouth than a yellow page ad.
If I need work done around the house, the first people I consult is my friends and family. The only thing is, I get a wide range of opinions and even more recommendations. Take that same concept and apply it to the web. Your best resource and a social network, AngiesList. Find opinions from local neighbors who have used the same contractors you maybe considering for your next project.
There are other sites to find contractors in your local area. You’ll get a list of participating contractors. Participating as in they are paying to be on the list.
