Surreal Looking Mexico City Suburbs
Despite looking like something out of a cartoon or a bizarre Monopoly dream, these images are in fact of an actual subdivision in Mexico. Located in Ixtapaluca, a suburb 30 miles southeast of Mexico City, the first picture shows about 300 of what is over 10,000 low-income homes within this development.
The second photo offers a wider view and a glimpse at the color shemes and how those colors were grouped by the builders in such a peculiar manner. Now, I get a twitch whenever I drive through a normal North American suburb, but I think this place would put me into seizures.
These two photos are part of a larger gallery put together by a Mexico City helicopter pilot that is quite stunning. It makes for a rather unique birds-eye view of one of the largest cities on the planet. I especially like the second image on the left in the gallery of the city at night, taken from one of the volcanoes that ring the region. Check it out for yourself here.
