Romantic Getaways on a North Sea Oil Rig
The gentle evening gales, the soothing 30 foot seas and the subtle scent of petroleum can be all yours on your next romantic weekend…on an oil rig in the North Sea! Think I’m kidding?
Harrod’s department store owner and really rich guy, Mohamed Al Fayed, has plans to build a 50-bedroom country-house style hotel on an oil rig platform in the Cromarty Firth, off Scotland’s east coast. Two oil companies just recently announced that they have approved the use of their platforms for the project, so the plans could become a reality by 2008.
From an article at BBC News…
The idea is to build a complex with a unique location, offering panoramic views and the chance for guests to watch marine life from their window.
Mr Robertson said there were “various options” surrounding access to the hotel.
Umm…perhaps a boat could provide access to the hotel? Just a thought you know.
Here’s that article from BBC News.
