Monday Modular: Minarc

Tryggvi (AIA Assoc.) and Erla (Interior Designer) principles of Minarc, which stands for “minimalist architecture”, personal home was featured during CABoom 4. Tryggvi goal for their home was to use NO harmful chemicals. Instead they only wanted to use materials in their most organic forms. Very interesting! They also have two young kids. I throw that point out because “minimalist architecture” and “kids” don’t usually go together. But they must make it work.

Like most smaller architecture firms Minarc is offering a solution to high design low cost prefab housing. The eBox evolving into the M3 House captivates the Minarc belief to a tee. Overly simplistic options. That is how I see and why I love minimalist architecture. Look at the floor plans, every room is large enough.

If minimalism becomes a trend, we would have a lot less gluttony and consumerism in the housing industry. A very good thing.
