James Bond’s Island For Sale
If you’re a James Bond fan, then you’ve got to check this place out. It’s called Goat Island, located in Tobago, and it’s a private island that was owned by Bond creator, Ian Fleming. In fact, it’s thought that the genesis of the name, James Bond, occured at this very spot. From LuxuryRealEstate.com…
When Ian Fleming bought Goat Island in Tobago he quickly became aware of the fame of the neighbouring island which was called “Bird of Paradise Island” for 50 years. In 1912 Sir William Ingram introduced 24 pairs of the very rare birds from their native home in the Aru Islands of New Guinea - as they were threatened with extinction by plume hunters for women’s hats, and that is how the island derived it’s name.

Fleming had a copy of “Birds of the West Indies” by the author Terence James Bond, and the cover of this book which Fleming read regularly became the inspiration for one of literature and film’s most famous characters.
The island itself is 10 acres in size and located one mile offshore from the village of Speyside. The main house is a two-storey West Indian villa featuring three bedrooms, all with ocean views. Two single bedroom ‘apartments’ sit on the hill above the house.
The property is generator-powered and has a 35,000 gallon fresh water storage tank. It also includes a boathouse parcel in town, which is a quick 30-minute drive from the Tobago International Airport.
All yours for just an offer of at least $3,000,000. I wonder if there’s a secret lair hidden somewhere on the property?
