Happy Harry Potter Day!

by Jennifer Chait on July 21st, 2007

To celebrate; yes I like Harry Potter. I have hidden depths (and a six year old). So, to celebrate the release of the brand new book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, let’s look at some homes from our world that you might live in if you happened to be part of Harry’s world.

severus snapeFirst up. Severus Snape, or as I like to call him, “that good looking movie version of Snape, Alan Rickman.”

Another hidden depth — I sometimes fall for strange characters.

In our world where might you set up camp if you were Snape? Hmmm, where oh where? Hey I know!

Here:

guggenheim and snapes house

This building is perfect. The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, located in Spain, it’s a modern and contemporary art museum designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. Gehry is amazing with a capital A, but since he doesn’t live in Potter’s world, we’ll discuss him another day.

(See the spider eek!)

eek!

What about Hermione & Ron. I’m looping them togther, one because I can and two, do you know how hard it is to find Harry Potter homes in our world. Very!

I found three that might work. They can fight over who gets to live where.

1

Hermione & Ron home

2, more Hermione style perhaps…

3

dragonhouse.

I have no idea what’s going on here. But the site it came from is very cool. Go see.

Voldemort’s home in a rock: It’s semi-civilized. There are steps.

Lord Voldemort's cave

Last but not least, Harry himself…

I thought, you know, he’s been through a lot why not have him live somewhere peaceful and nice…

This is the Chateau de Sadillac. You can take a nice holiday there. There are beautiful rooms and golf and even a giant chessboard — really go see their site.

Harry would like it. I know I would.

Have a great day. If you’re spending it reading — you better not come here with spoilers; I won’t be reading the book until later this week.

And some of us still need to read book #6. I know that’s abhorrent in some people’s eyes, but so be it. I question if I stand any chance of reading book #6 AND book #7 before I hear all the big surprises. Maybe I better not look at the Internet for about six months…

You better not. I get so many feeds and already saw some stuff that I wish I hadn’t. Unplug for the next two years and you should be okay…Maybe.

And look at you making the blog rounds today. Did you have a bunch of free time or what? Still, it’s good to see someone — it’s weird lately readers drop off on the weekends and pick up on the weekdays — shouldn’t it be the other way around. Everyone’s reading on the job. I know it.

I don’t like the spider either… HATE spiders; not even for Alan R, would I live with them.

I’m in the middle of book 7 right now. I’m absolutely refusing to click on any links that are Harry Potter related for fear of ruining anything! Just reading the chapter titles on the last book ruined the ending for me! I must say that so far, it is one of the best books in the series, but that’s all I’m saying! Great post Jennifer! Glad to know there is another Harry Potter fan in my channel, though I hope you are not as obsessed as I am! I went to a midnight book opening dressed up in costume! Came home dead tired. I never really thought about what kind of houses they would all live in!

Hey, you clicked on this link! And no, Becca, I’d say I’m not quite that obsessed. You are too funny. I like Harry, like (well, and there’s that little Snape crush). I was maybe that obsessed with X-Files though.

    Hi Jennifer!

LOVE the HP home tour! Great job! No spoilers here–I’m still working on it myself, since I lost my glasses and I can’t read for too long without them.

Saw this site and thought you’d enjoy it!
