Famous house you’d like to visit

by Jennifer Chait on July 20th, 2008

I visited the Dead house on Height in San Francisco, which was pretty cool, but after that famous abode, I’d probably like to visit this house:

It’s kind of funky and although red, it’s still cool because someone great lived there. Do you know who used to call this house home?

Mark Twain! I love Twain. He’s a top notch writer. His humor was way ahead of it’s time.

The Twain home is located in Hartford, CT, and is one of the most famous and photographed Victorian homes in the world. It’s supposedly in mint condition, which is cool considering that it was built in 1873. It’s a house heavy on the stick work, and it looks great. I’d love to visit.

Look at the entryway details - they do not build homes like this anymore.

The Biltmore in Asheville. It’s the closest thing America has to a castle. (plus, they have a winery.) :-)

Sandy, I don’t know the Biltmore in Asheville; unless I know it by sight and not name. But I will now have to look it up.

JCDB - let us know if you go see it. I wish I could.
