Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Goofy? What can I say, I do love Bowie.
Seriously though, we do have a change here at Offbeat Homes. Adam Marquart has (unfortunately) decided to step down from his Offbeat blogging position and move on to some different adventures. Which leaves you, our great readers, all alone with me. Wah, ha, ha ha ha. Actually, I’m not that scary. But my frighteningly good plan is to keep on bringing you cool offbeat information like Adam did.
In fact, I think we should take a moment to look back at some of my favorite posts of Adam’s. He brought 100 plus posts to the house — so it was hard to choose, but here’s my faves:
Architecture Earth: I like this post because Adam offered up some great information on the new Goggle Earth. With news about the freshly added architecture layer and links to a cool video. Great post if you know little about Goggle Earth.
Size Doesn’t Matter, It’s All About How You Use It: First off this post has a funny and great catchy title (the true mark of a hip blogger). Second it covers the important issue of how “Mega” homes are sprouting up everywhere. I’m personally against the mega mansions and I like Adam’s take (sue if need be). Good one to read if you’ve got a home in a neighborhood with a mega invasion.
How Sustainable Are You Allowed To Be?: This cool post answers the title question and covers an important issue, that communities and home builders everywhere should be thinking about.
(Un) Straw Bale: I disagree with most of what Adam says here. And it’s my favorite post that he wrote. Here’s why. With blogging, I once read some thing akin to, “If you aren’t shocking folks you’re probably blogging wrong.” He shocked me. I lived in New Mexico and straw bale is a HUGE deal there. I have the requisite Building With Awareness video and straw bale books and a partner who’d like to build a straw bale home. Adam’s post made me really go over my own thoughts about the issue of building straw bale homes. And while I’m still on the side of the fence for straw bale, I do agree with some of the points he made and really appreciate that he made me think.
And now it’s time to get back to our regularly scheduled programming; take care and best of luck to you Adam. Hopefully you’ll be around for a visit from time to time.
