Located near the corner of South 25th and Fawcett Avenue in Tacoma, Washington, a long-time local landmark will soon be coming down. Dubbed the Deriugin House, this unusual example of ‘constructivist art‘ with its painted lumber scraps pointing skyward like a bizarre art-deco cathedral, has long been a source of neighborhood angst.

In a previous post - Dude…My House Fell Over! - Blaine from RunToWin mentioned a place in Orlando called the WonderWorks building. I hadn’t heard of it, but upon a quick Googling, I realized that I had seen photos of this place all over and I just didn’t know the name of the place.

Earlier this week, Chinese artist Song Dong completed an art installation in London, England’s Selfridges department store. ‘Eating the City‘, built from thousands of cookies and biscuits, depicts a traditional Asian city linked to a more modern looking cityscape.

This is another one of those instances where I’ve seen this photo all over web, but I’ve never seen an explanation for where and/or what it is. Does anyone know the story behind this place?

The second photo […]

These are just a couple of images from photographer Michael Wolf and they document one of the most densely populated places on the planet - Hong Kong - in a rather dramatic fashion.
They are part of a larger series of photographs from a study that can be found in Hong Kong: Front Door / Back […]

No kidding! It’s really the Simpson’s House. In 1997, Fox Broadcasting and Pepsi-Cola held a contest to win a full-scale replica of the Simpsons house, just like in the cartoon series.
The home was located in Henderson, Nevada, on Red Bark Lane in the Springfield Community South Valley Ranch. The community was named after […]

There’s living on a hillside, then there’s living in a hillside. Dutch architectual firm MVRDV has a reputation for being a little unconventional and that trend is continuing with a housing development in Liuzhou, China.
Facing the spectre of eroding mountain sides in the valley where the project is to be located, MVRDV came up […]
