Bilbo Baggins’ Doll House

by Kevin Humphrey on January 24th, 2006

Bilbo BagginIf you read my previous post, you’ll know that I have a fetish for unusual homes. I can actually remember the first time an unusual home blew me away. It was either grade 6 or 7, and we had to read Tolkien’s The Hobbit. From the very first lines, I was enthralled and hooked and to this day, the Hobbit House remains one of my favorite unusual homes.

A doll house maker and Tolkein fan has built the most amazing detailed miniature replica of Bilbo Baggins’ snug little home at Bag End. This thing is absolutely phenomenal!

The maker is also a blogger at LiveJournal with the username of ‘Obelia medusa‘. Obelia has got a blog post that details the building process (here) with lots of commentary and then the piece de resistance is the page that features about 30 high quality photographs of the final product (here), complete with ‘hobbit-views’ through the front windows. I’m utterly speechless whenever I look at his work.

Check it out for yourself…
