Arte Luise Kunsthotel

by Jennifer Chait on April 24th, 2008

Well, this hotel puts the local Holiday Inn to shame.

Room 314: Unter dem roten Pferd

The Arte Luise Kunsthotel, located in Berlin, notes that they’re called a “Gallery where you can spent the night.” They’re not kidding around. Each room was designed and created by one or more artists, and each is entirely unique. Each room is amazing in it’s own way. If I went to Berlin, I would absolutely try to stay here. I imagine it’s booked to the hilt most nights though. How could it not be?

Room 306: Comic

The room above is not one I’d like to stay in, not my style, and the colors would give me a headache, but the idea is just so neat. I love how it’s drawn. I ended up not being able to choose a favorite (shocking I know) so I’ll show you one last room, one I know for sure that I would not stay in, because I’m not a dog person. That said, creatively, it’s one of the more cool-in-theory rooms.

See it…

Room 307: Hauptstadt der Hunde

From the website: “According to the statistics of a reliable polling institute the number of pet dogs in Berlin is estimated to be around 250,000. The artist believes it is about time to erect a monument to the Berliner’s best friend, which he proposes with irony through his pictogram made of dog bowls, nightstands of dog-food boxes, etc. The basket bed is therefore no accident!”

I know a hotel website sounds utterly dull, unless you happen to be booking. However, the Arte Luise Kunsthotel is one not to miss website. There are tons of other artistic rooms to see. Each room page comes with artist details and background information of how the room came to be. There’s a whole other deal you have to see that going on in the main lobby, a stellar stairway of the philosopher, and some wonderful shots of Berlin activities. Take a half hour or so and visit. You’ll be glad you did.
