Ann Demeulemeester Shop in Seoul
Contemporist had the most amazing structure back in December. Honestly, really gorgeous. The building, close to Seoul’s Gangnam district is designed by Mass Studies Architects; a design firm I’ve heard of, but haven’t considered too much (I can’t consider everyone - not enough hours in the day). Had I spent any time at their site though, I would have seen this incredible building.

From Mass Studies Architects:
“This proposal is an attempt to incorporate as much nature as possible into the building within the constraints of a low-elevation, high-density urban environment of limited space. The building defines its relationship between natural/artificial and interior/exterior as an amalgamation, rather than a confrontation.
The outside building material is primarily a geotextile planted with a herbaceous perennial to form a living façade, while the other three sides that face bamboo borders are clad in steel sheets are finished with propylene resin.”
How cool. Seriously. Well, I do sort of wonder if you have to water the building, or if it’s a low-water perennial, or maybe the rain takes care of it. Hmmm. They extended the outer sheath of green to stairways, which is my favorite part of the structure:

I love it…Have you seen the bio-graffiti art? I wrote an article on it ..it is way cool..where people use moss spore mixtures to tag buildings in the city..
The artist most well known is Edina Tokodi..here is the link with a recipe for the mix if you are interested…I can so see you tagging the police station with moss.
