Blip Design

Blip Design does some amazing work - both structural and furniture wise. Also, for an architect firm Blip’s website is refreshingly uncomplicated and no hassle. That’s new.
One of my favorite structures of Blip’s is a remodel, the queen anne house. The home is in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle and takes advantage of the [...]

Estes/Twombly continued - the McKeough House

Last night I told you about my little crush on Estes/Twombly. This morning I’ve got my favorite structure from this firm. I’m pretty sure the McKeough House is the first Estes/Twombly home I saw, and it’s lovely.

Ok, more than lovely. This is like twilight house eye candy bliss. That term won’t be sweeping the nation [...]

My new crush on Estes/Twombly

I’m having a little thing for Estes/Twombly right now. I saw an Estes/Twombly structure in a book (or magazine - you know me, I forget the small details) a while back and fell in love. This isn’t offbeat architecture in a loony way, but this is unique work, as in you want to stare at [...]

Random stock photo house - not snow

I found this picture while hunting for an image of snow. It’s not snow obviously, but it is a bizarre front of a house. I’m not sure I like it at all.

I can see where this might be a cool idea, but the true blue color is throwing me. I’m not a true blue fan. [...]

Glowing 8 foot wide architecture

This four-story residential in Antwerp, Belgium is making the rounds, and it’s not hard to guess why. Designed by sculp(IT) to fill in a mere 8 foot wide space (technically 7 ft 10 in), this living space is not only amazing, but shows what you can do with very little when you’re creative enough.

God, I’m [...]

What the flip…?

…was this builder thinking?
Seriously now; have you ever seen such a mixed up looking house? Ever?
I haven’t. That’s Alaska for you.

Classic Offbeat Homes: Home Minded Books & DVDs

Earlier today I posted a review of a new book; The Carbon-Free Home: 36 Remodeling Projects to Help Kick the Fossil -Fuel Habit.
With that in mind, I figured the timing was right to share some previous building/home resource books and DVDs that we’ve seen here at Offbeat in the past.

Offbeat Worthy Holiday Gifts (there’s an [...]

New Book Review: The Carbon Free Home

I found a great new book at the library last week -  The Carbon-Free Home: 36 Remodeling Projects to Help Kick the Fossil -Fuel Habit by Stephen & Rebekah Hren.

I’m not all the way through this book yet, but already I can tell you it’s worth far more than [...]
